"Senior widower needs a decorator's tasteful guidance." That was my situation when I returned to an independent apartment in Atlanta in November 2019 after a 50 year absence. Relatives had no useful recommendation. I did not need to turn a 1000 sq ft apartment into a photo spread for "Urban Living" that no one would ever see. I did want to have my own attractive, comfortable, functional, space for the next 20 years.. I took a chance on the internet and Marie from Panach' came to my aid. Before Covid set in we were in touch and she quickly assessed what I needed and what I did not. I had furniture, but needed some supporting pieces and some replacements. I had art, but needed a coordinating eye. I needed a few specific items that were better than Wayfair and did not know where to look for them locally. Marie agreed to pre-search her "pre owned" sources to bring me possibilities for specific pieces to fill in some gaps, She gave valuable advise when I found something that might work on Craig's list. When Covid relaxed we got to the big part of the small job, recovering a Craig's List purchased dining room set. Marie's taste, guidance, and access to sources made it all come together on time, on budget. As far as total cost, we never established a budget. She quickly determined when I was willing to pay for what I wanted, and when I had to stop. Another important point. We both knew from the start that it would be a relatively small project. However I never felt like I was pushed aside for other bigger more expensive projects. Getting services from the internet can be a problem and even a disaster. I started working with Marie back in october to transform our home, and, transform is what we did. When I was transferred to Atlanta, I had serious concerns because I knew I would have to hire someone to help me get a brand-new house ready to move into, and I’d have to do most of it long distance. And I knew I’d have to hire a home DECORATOR who had relationships with the vendors, knew the local market, etc.. We’re plain folks, and by hiring a decorator, I expected to have to pay for a lot of artistic talent I didn’t want, and my challenge would be to corral the decorator’s artistic “tendencies” which would inevitably cost me more money. But I hit a home run with Marie. And in my first communications with her, she EFFERVESCED with creative ideas and enthusiasm. But what she did masterfully was assert her creative side every step of the way in making always-constructive, practical recommendations, striking the right balance, not wasting my time over-selling it. She has good contacts with vendors, and got me good value for my money. And she has an incredible TECHNICAL competence in the many aspects of getting blinds, carpeting, painting, etc. installed – answering questions I wouldn’t even think to ask.
